Palestine solidarity programme at AMU

Speaking at the symposium renowned historian Prof. Irfan Habib expressed his happiness that a programme on Palestine was being organised in AMU after a long time. He gave a historical outline of the entire Israel-Palestine conflict and how the western imperialist powers conspired with Zionists in helping it to occupy the Palestinian territory. He stressed that while it is true that in the ancient time a small Jew population was residing in the region known as Palestine today as mentioned in the Old Testament as well and that the Jews were persecuted and forced to leave their land, this happened in the reign of Roman empire much before Islam was even born.

Palestine Solidarity Convention held in New Delhi

The two-day convention to express solidarity of Indian people with the ongoing resistance of Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation and its continued genocidal campaign concluded late Sunday night at the Ghalib institute in Delhi. During the convention it was decided to launch a signature campaign demanding that the Indian government must cancel the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israel and sever India’s diplomatic, military and trade relations with Israel. The convention was held on the first anniversary of the deadly bombardment on Gaza by Israel which killed more than 2200 people including 502 children.
